Serving Children, Youth and Their families
Education Plus 2 (EP2) is a 501c (3) non–profit community based organization, located in Washington DC.
EP2 specializes in services for children, youth, and their families who live in underserved urban communities, and who are at high risk for poverty and being subjected to crime and other social ills.
OUR MISSION
Enhancing the ability of families to be productive and self-reliant citizens.
We work from the premise that solutions to community problems are based within a family-centered context that allows for meeting families where they are while building upon their strengths. We believe the key to changing lives for the better starts within the family and moves outward into the neighborhood and larger community, one family at a time.
EP2 believes that children/youth have a higher probability of educational success beyond their high school years when they have supportive family and community networks. Therefore, EP2’s focuses on family models of self-sufficiency and empowerment that are anchored by supportive, resource-driven, respectful communities.
EP2 provides services focused on health education and training, preventative healthcare, and the coordination of needed social services.
OUR IMPACT
How We Affect Change
EP2 has effected change in daily diets and basic nutritional knowledge through its Health and Nutrition Program. EP2 has helped children develop healthy methods of managing anger and conflicts. Through EP2 partnerships, children and youth have learned about and operated important entrepreneurial projects and coding concepts, and they have explored and developed their interest in art.
